My tryst with coala: Setting Sail
With lots of appreciation from family, friends, mentors and ofcourse the mandatory LinkedIn post, my journey in coala started. It is the community bonding period, where we interact with the mentors and the selected students, gearing up for the upcoming coding period.
This Community Bonding period starts as soon as the results get announced. So, after the overwhelming reactions to the selection, I had tame down my adrenaline and sit back to prepare for my next comprehensive examination, which was scheduled just the next day, which were supposed to end by15th May, earlier but like everything else were delayed by 10 days due to the worsening Covid situation.
During the community bonding period, I met my mentor twice over Google meet. We also scheduled a meet with the other selected candidates, but only Sanchit and Prashant showed up on the call. We reminisced the pre-covid days in college, bickered a little about our day to day lives, our plans and discussed the open-source culture within our campuses.
During the bonding period, we were advised to prepare a cEP, coala enhancement proposal and devise milestones to keep track of the project progress. I also decided to wind up a previously assigned issue to gear up for the coding period. But then again, after a week off, I have started working on it with less than a week left and have only been able to figure a small portion of the issue and my cEP.
Yet, here I am writing my second blog and yet to make the milestones. I guess I will always have things to catch up on, and the chase is the real fun:)
